The literacy rate is much greater than the average.

Almost 95% people speak Punjabi. However, being located in the middle of Punjab the people speak other languages too, like pahari, pothohari, and shah puri. Other languages, like Urdu as the national language is widely spoken and is understood. English is also widely understood and is spoken by a large number of educated population.
